about this horse:
This 5 year old filly is absolutely beautiful. She
is a solid bay with a few white hairs in her forehead, the kind that you can
really dress up with white boots and silver... She has been raised here on
the ranch and has been started under saddle by us as well. She got a late
start due to lack of time but she is going along well in the arena. She
lopes circles, stops, backs, sidepasses, moves her hip and shoulders, and
turnsback on the fence.
This filly is guiding really well at a lope, you
can lope diagonals, straight lines, or any size circle. She is easy to
catch, ties, clips, bathes, and
is easy to saddle and bridle. She stands still while mounting and she
doesn't mind a mounting block. You can even open gates on this filly, swing
a rope, or drag a log! (see NOVEMBER video)
She has a great foundation and is ready to go any
direction. We have ridden her out in the mountains on some pretty rough
terrain just a few times with other horses, she will lead or follow. She was
raised out in the mountains and is good on her feet and can follow a trail.
Although she is not a seasoned trail horse, she has the potential to be a
great trail horse.
She has been through the Clinton Anderson
techniques for ground manners and she is great on the ground. She also knows
the one rein stop in the saddle. She would make someone a very nice all
around horse and could go just about any direction.
We don't have any cattle currently at the ranch to
work the horses on but she really has a knack for tracking... She could be a
cutter, rope horse, teampenner, cowhorse, or all around using horse. She loads and hauls in the
trailer and has been for some short rides, but she has been just ridden here
at home. I had hopes of keeping this one around for my husband but he just
doesn't have the time.
There are always exceptions... BUT- We recommend at
least an adult intermediate rider for this mare at this time as she does
need finishing and seasoning. She has the disposition to make a horse for a
less experienced rider or young rider eventually.
